    • My daughter was one of the first “little owlets” to join this child care, and it’s been such an amazing time, a year later! The most important thing for us is that we do not worry, because the owner, the teachers, the kids became a second family to ours. When I bring my daughter there, I know she’ll be taken care of, she’ll have fun, she’ll eat homemade-healthy-yummy food, and she’ll be learning something important for her development every day.

    • I personally observed the providers and how they take care of my child and other children. Happy to put another CHECK right here! The teachers are very patient and nurturing. They have plenty of teaching materials and incorporate lessons into play every day. The Little Owlets is my number one choice in the area!

    • First I want to say that Lola and Aliya are wonderful and provide gentle care. On multiple occasions I have seen them interacting with children and they are always so good with them! I have 2 nephews, 18 months and 4 year old that visit Little Owlets. My 4 year old nephew always comes back singing, dancing and learning something new.

    • My child has been attending Little Owlets daily since September, and although we were concerned with how she would adjust, the friendly, nurturing environment here provided a worry-free smooth transition.

    • We love Little owlets! Were very worried about starting daycare, but everything went very smooth. They provide a loving atmosphere, outdoor and indoor activities, yummy home cooked meals and daily online reports. They also participate in field trips, dinner parties and even volunteer events. Very attentive teachers that treat kids like their own. Highly recommend!

    • We have had a fantastic experience with Little Owlets. As a first time parent starting daycare, I was, of course, nervous about the decision to put our daughter into daycare. Nonetheless, she has had a wonderful experience thus far. It has been my privilege to watch my daughter truly flourish here. She is constantly developing, growing, learning, and making stronger friendships. The emphasis on multi-lingual education is a true benefit as well, and an opportunity I wish I had growing up. From the combination of indoor/outdoor activities and the linguistic development, to the friendly and loving environment, to even the excellent food provided, I am ever reassured that Little Owlets was and is the correct choice in childcare for my daughter.

  • Our Team

Our educators have over 30 years of combined experience working with little children and continue their ongoing education, keeping up with technology, new innovations and latest early learning research and development. We are CPR and First Aid certified. We immerse the children in various activities that foster their intellectual development and prepare them to be young multi-lingual explorers. Our methodology is focused on the theories of Maria Montessori, Jean Peaget and Lev Vygotski. Our lessons are structured in a "learn by experience" set up and the children are "helpers in everything we do".

We teach reading, writing, drawing, art, music, mathematics, social play and physical development, and all the learning is reinforced in English and Russian languages. We also spend time playing outdoors each day.

My name is Aliya. I am the founder and the director of Little Owlets. I am a mother of three very smart and beautiful children. I received my education in International Relations from the George Washington University where I observed how difficult it was for college aged students to learn foreign languages for the first time.

When I found out I was expecting my third child I decided to shift gears and opened Little Owlets child care to be a multi-lingual program – to get the children to learn two or three languages at a young age. I have done a lot of studies, which all confirmed that learning foreign languages within the first seven years of life helps build a strong foundation and better abilities to grasp new languages and retaining them with higher success. As part of this program I hire people who are native speakers of at least two languages.

As part of building this program, I received my preschool and infants/toddlers certification and continue taking on various course work in early childhood education and brain development with the focus on bilingualism.

I love being a part of Little Owlets! I feel like we are a family and I treat each and every child as my own grandchild. I believe that young children require lots of love and nurture along with a well-structured educational program to strive and I see it all the time in our program!

      Gabriela (Gabi)

My name is Gabriela (Gabi). I was born and raised in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. I am a native speaker of Portuguese and I speak Spanish with ease. In Brazil, I went to school to become a PE teacher for elementary school age children. I had a few years of experience working gross motor development with this age group. Since I moved to the United States, my focus was on working with toddlers and preschoolers. I have worked in a large Montessori school for about two years when I was invited to work for Little Owlets. I assisted in the implementation of Montessori method into a traditional play based curriculum and I see a great success in our daily lives. Our program teaches many different life skills in a very unique multi-lingual environment.

I am certified to work with Infants and Toddlers and am currently working towards preschool and elementary school certifications. I find that working with children is emotionally, socially, and intellectually rewarding.
